THE STORY-TO-SALE EMAIL SYSTEM
Your Email List May Be the Most Underused Asset in Your Business
MISSED OPPORTUNITIES
A launch. An event. A new offer. A big announcement.
Then the list goes quiet again.
Meanwhile, people who already showed interest slowly forget about you.
Tips, how-tos, advice...
It can all be genuinely useful. But making someone more informed doesn’t necessarily make them more ready to buy.
They can keep learning from you without ever feeling a stronger need for what you sell.
AI makes it easier than ever to turn out polished emails in seconds.
But when you also ask it to come up with the ideas, insights, and stories, it fills the gaps with the same information everyone else has access to.
For years, while helping Tommy Mello grow what became an 8-figure expert business, we built the audience through his podcast, books, Facebook groups, paid ads, and other channels.
But email was mostly something I used when we had a reason to send one.
Then, in 2023, we decided to put on our first three-day live event.
We needed to fill the room.
And I knew that meant emailing our list consistently.
But I had the same concern a lot of experts have:
How do you keep emailing people without annoying them or constantly pitching them?
So I started experimenting.
Instead of sending another tip, announcement, or generic AI-written email, I’d take something that had actually happened to Tommy and tell the story.
A mistake. A decision. An experiment. A lesson he learned the hard way.
Then I’d naturally connect that story to the event.
From January to August, we sent hundreds of emails.
And to my surprise, people kept reading—and buying tickets.
In November 2023, 736 people showed up. Nearly 70% of the ticket sales had come through email.
But the sales weren’t the most interesting part.
As I moved between groups, introducing myself and listening to their conversations, I kept hearing Tommy’s stories come up.
People weren’t simply repeating his advice.
They were using his stories to make sense of what was happening in their own businesses.
Someone would describe a problem they were dealing with, and another person would connect it back to one of Tommy’s emails.
The clearest proof came on the final day of the event.
When we introduced our new membership program from the stage, people began rushing to the table at the back of the room with credit cards in hand.
In less than an hour, one hundred people joined—generating $250,000 in enrollment fees alone.
That experience changed the way I thought about email.
From then on, the question wasn’t:
“What should we send?”
It was:
The mistake that forced you to change course
The decision you made without knowing the outcome
The client moment that revealed an insight
The turning points that changed your direction
The belief you held until experience proved otherwise
Having the raw material is critical, but not enough.
You still need to know what your reader needs to believe before they're ready to buy.
Which of your experiences could help them see it for themselves.
What part of that experience actually matters.
How to turn it into a story that keeps them hooked.
And how to naturally connect that story to what you sell.
That can sound like a lot of work.
Especially if you're trying to do it every week.
AI can help you analyze what your reader needs to believe.
It can interview you to uncover the right experience for the belief you want to shift.
It can ask questions that pull out the details that make the story compelling.
It can help you find the connection between the experience, the belief, and your offer.
And it can turn all of that into a polished first draft in minutes.
That way, you get the speed and consistency of AI without outsourcing the part that makes the email worth reading in the first place.
Your experiences. Your judgment. Your ideas.
AI does the heavy lifting. The thinking that makes the email worth reading still comes from you.

I spent nine years helping Tommy Mello turn his expertise into an 8-figure expert business—building the marketing behind his books, podcast, live events, offers, and email campaigns.
Along the way, I wrote and oversaw hundreds of emails, helped fill events with thousands of attendees, and saw firsthand how the right stories could change what people believed and make them more ready to buy.
The Story-to-Sale Email System is the process I developed from doing that work—not a theory about how email should work.
Never wonder what to email your list
Give people a reason to keep opening and paying attention
Shift the beliefs that keep readers from buying
Use AI to create faster without sounding generic
Sell naturally without relying on constant promotions
Get more from the audience you already worked so hard to build

No.
You don’t need to be a storyteller or even consider yourself a strong writer.
AI interviews you one question at a time to uncover the parts of the experience that matter, then helps shape your answers into a compelling story-driven email.
You bring what happened. The system helps you turn it into the story.
If you’ve spent years building a business, working with clients, making decisions, solving problems, and developing your expertise, you probably have more stories than you realize.
The challenge is recognizing which moments are worth using.
That’s why Step 2 of the system has AI interview you to uncover Experiences connected to the belief you want to shift.
You don’t need to arrive knowing which story to tell.
No.
Every Story-to-Sale Email starts with a Belief Gap:
What your market believes now → What you believe instead
That tells you which assumption the story needs to challenge and what new idea it needs to make more believable.
So you’re not telling a story simply because it’s interesting.
The story has a strategic job.
That’s what the system is designed to help them do.
A story can help someone question an assumption, recognize a problem they’ve been overlooking, understand why your approach is different, or become more convinced that something needs to change.
Then, when there’s a logical next step, the email can lead naturally into your offer.
The goal isn’t just to make your emails more entertaining. It’s to make them more useful to the buying process.
Not if you use it the way this system is designed.
AI can help you analyze the beliefs worth shifting, but it doesn’t invent your experiences, judgment, or ideas.
It interviews you first, uses your answers as the raw material, and helps you turn them into the finished email.
AI does the heavy lifting. The thinking that makes the email worth reading still comes from you.
Then the system will make consistency much easier.
You don’t have to sit down every week and come up with an email from scratch.
The process gives you the next question to answer at every stage.
Then you probably don’t need to send more.
You may need the emails you already send to do more than just teach.
Story-to-Sale gives those emails a strategic purpose: challenge assumptions, build belief in your approach, and help more prospects become ready to buy.
No.
Not every email needs to ask someone to buy.
But every Story-to-Sale Email should have a strategic job—helping your reader question an assumption, see a problem differently, or become more convinced that something needs to change.
When there’s a logical next step, you can then connect that belief naturally to your offer.
No.
If you have people on your list who know about your business but haven’t bought yet, the system can help you make better use of the attention you’ve already earned.
You don’t need a massive list. You need people who have a reason to care about the problem you solve.
